Haryana Fast-Tracks Sohna Water Supply

The Haryana government has instructed the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to accelerate the delivery of treated water to residential sectors in Sohna through the Ghamroj Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

The directive was issued by DS Dhesi, Principal Advisor for Urban Development, during a high-level meeting held on July 14, according to officials. The HSVP plans to supply potable water to sectors 1, 2, 4, 5, 33, 35, and 36 in Sohna.

In response, authorities are reassessing current and future water demand, exploring multiple supply options, and preparing to escalate the proposal to senior officials in Chandigarh for necessary approvals.

“We are working closely with the public health department to chart a viable path forward,” said Vaishali Singh, HSVP Gurugram Administrator. “Options under consideration include establishing a booster station at Ghamroj or laying a dedicated supply line—both of which require higher-level clearance.”

In the absence of a permanent solution, residents continue to depend on expensive private water tankers to meet their daily needs.
