On March 10, 2025, the Gujarat Assembly approved the Urban Development Department's budgetary demand of ₹30,325 crore for 2025-26, reflecting a 40% increase from the previous year. The state government designated 2025-26 as the "Urban Development Year."
Minister Rushikesh Patel announced ₹450 crore for infrastructure in newly formed municipal corporations and an increase of ₹50,000 per house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He also stated that 78.33% of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II is complete, with full completion targeted for June 2025.
The Surat Metro Rail Project has reached 57.20% completion and is expected to be finished by October 2025. Additionally, ₹200 crore has been allocated for the development of cities and towns with religious significance, including Dwarka, Somnath, and Pavagadh.
