Hindustan Zinc Powers Up: 70% Renewables & Uninterrupted Supply

Hindustan Zinc has signed a Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) with Serentica Renewables to expand its renewable energy capacity from 450 MW to 530 MW, increasing the share of renewables to over 70% of its total power requirement.

This first-of-its-kind round-the-clock renewable PDA ensures a minimum of 315 MW of uninterrupted power supply in every 15-minute time block. The project will involve developing new solar, wind, and energy storage infrastructure in high-resource locations across India, with full operational capacity expected by 2027.

Structured under a captive model, the initiative aims to reduce Hindustan Zinc’s reliance on conventional energy sources by integrating advanced energy storage systems and market mechanisms for seamless power delivery. This PDA marks a significant shift in industrial power procurement, transitioning from conventional round-the-clock models to a precise, time-block-based firm renewable energy solution.

By guaranteeing a scheduled and dispatchable power supply, the agreement sets a new benchmark for sustainable energy adoption in the industry.
