Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced a long-term vision to develop Dedicated Passenger Corridors (DPCs) over the next 30 years, aimed at addressing growing passenger demand and significantly enhancing rail capacity.
Speaking at the 16th International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025, the Minister stressed the importance of separating high-speed passenger traffic from existing rail lines to improve operational efficiency. As part of the Viksit Bharat Vision, over 7,000 km of DPCs are planned by 2047, featuring indigenously developed signalling systems, state-of-the-art operations control centres, and train speeds of up to 350 km/h.
Vaishnaw also shared updates on Vande Bharat 4.0, targeted for launch within the next 18 months, with enhancements focused on passenger comfort, quality, and global competitiveness.
He reaffirmed the Ministry's three core priorities: passenger service excellence, safety, and future-readiness of Indian Railways.
