Hilti Manufacturing India’s facility in Vadodara has become the first in the country to receive the DGNB Gold Certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen), a globally recognized benchmark for sustainable construction.
This certification highlights Hilti’s commitment to sustainability, safety, operational efficiency, and long-term decarbonisation as part of its global goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The DGNB system evaluates a building’s performance across its entire lifecycle—from design and construction to long-term operation—taking into account environmental impact, economic performance, user comfort, and architectural quality.
Speaking on the recognition, Giridhar Jambunathan, Director & CEO of Hilti Manufacturing India, said:
“Industrial buildings present unique challenges when it comes to sustainability. Our goal with the Vadodara plant was to go beyond compliance and set a new benchmark. DGNB’s framework helped guide that ambition.”
Johannes Kreißig, Managing Director of DGNB, added:
“Hilti is playing a pioneering role, with its Indian project being the first in the country to achieve DGNB certification.”
This milestone reinforces Hilti’s leadership in sustainable industrial infrastructure and sets a precedent for green building practices in India’s manufacturing sector.
