Hyderabad Metro Phase II: Centre Joins the Ride!

Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced that the Central government will participate in the Hyderabad Metro Phase-II expansion, which will be developed as a 50:50 joint venture between the Centre and the Telangana government.

The project will be implemented through a public–private partnership (PPP) model. Minister Khattar commended Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for clearing hurdles to the project and reaffirmed the Centre’s full support toward its execution. He also highlighted the rapid expansion of Metro Rail systems in India, noting that 24 cities now have metro networks, compared to just five in 2004–05.

Addressing the Musi Riverfront Development initiative, the Union Minister stated that funding from the Central government as well as international institutions such as the Asian Development Bank could be leveraged to complete the project.
