Hyderabad: New Home to Citizens Financial's Global Centre

Citizens Financial Group, a prominent U.S.-based financial institution, has inaugurated its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, in partnership with leading IT services firm Cognizant. This strategic initiative marks a significant milestone in Citizens’ digital transformation journey.

Designed to function as a next-generation innovation hub, the Hyderabad GCC will support the enhancement of enterprise platforms, customer experience programs, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. The centre is projected to scale up to 1,000 IT and data & analytics professionals by March 2026.

Speaking at the launch event, Telangana’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications, D Sridhar Babu, emphasized the state’s emergence as a premier global technology destination.

Hyderabad continues to solidify its position as a hub for global capability centres, now home to more than 350 GCCs across industries including banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), healthcare, and technology. The city’s appeal is supported by robust infrastructure and growth metrics: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport recorded the highest passenger growth among Indian metros, commercial real estate absorption surged by 56%, and retail leasing reached 1.8 million sq. ft. in the past year.

With plans to add 200 million sq. ft. of Grade-A office space by 2030, Hyderabad is well on its way to becoming a global nucleus for innovation and enterprise.
