IHCL Relaunches Gateway Brand with Ambitious Expansion Plan

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has reintroduced its Gateway brand as part of a strategic push to capture growth in micro-markets within metro areas and tier II/III cities. The relaunch includes a new 151-key hotel in Bekal, Kerala, and the rebranding of four existing properties in Nashik, Coonoor, Madurai, and Chikmagalur. IHCL’s ambitious plan for the Gateway brand is to expand to 100 hotels by 2030, reflecting the rising domestic demand for quality accommodations with robust banqueting facilities.

The Gateway brand's reimagining is a response to the significant shift in consumer behavior post-pandemic, where travel has become a central aspect of spending for both households and individuals. IHCL aims to meet this growing demand by targeting a broad spectrum of travelers in metro and tier I, II, and III cities, offering a blend of comfort, local culture, and modern amenities.

In its initial phase, the Gateway brand will include 17 hotels, with the goal of growing to 100 properties within the next six years. The brand’s hotels will feature spacious rooms, local culinary experiences, including tea lounges and specialty restaurants, and facilities designed for meetings and celebrations, catering to both leisure and business travelers.

IHCL's expansion strategy underscores its confidence in the return on investment for developers, as well as its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of travelers across India. The company's current portfolio includes 334 hotels, with 106 more under development, across five distinct brands in over 130 locations both in India and internationally.

The relaunch of the Gateway brand positions IHCL to capture a significant share of the growing mid-market segment in the hospitality industry, reinforcing its leadership in the Indian market while continuing its expansion globally.
