India Takes Flight: Airbus Taps Mahindra for H125 Fuselage

Airbus Helicopters has signed a contract with Mahindra Aerostructures (MASPL) to manufacture the main fuselage of its H125 helicopter, marking a significant step in expanding India’s role in the global aerospace supply chain.

The H125, a widely used light utility helicopter, will also be assembled in India, with the project targeting future defence market requirements. Industrialisation is set to begin immediately at MASPL’s facility in Bengaluru, with the first fuselage deliveries expected in 2027. These components will primarily support Airbus’ final assembly operations in Marignane, France.

“This new contract with Mahindra Aerostructures is a testament to the strong capabilities of our partners in India,” said Wouter van Wersch, President, Airbus India and South Asia.

Airbus currently sources approximately USD 1.4 billion worth of components annually from India, reflecting the country's growing significance in the aerospace sector. In parallel, Airbus has partnered with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) to establish a final assembly line (FAL) in Kolar, Karnataka, starting in 2026. The facility will assemble up to 10 H125 helicopters per year.
