Andhra Pradesh is set to launch two pioneering geothermal tourism projects in Araku Valley and Visakhapatnam, marking India’s first large-scale geothermal pilot initiatives in the tourism sector.
The projects, spearheaded by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), align with the Union government’s green energy vision. They aim to showcase geothermal energy systems that utilize the earth’s stable underground temperatures for sustainable heating and cooling, thereby improving energy efficiency and visitor comfort at tourist destinations.
The initiative was announced following discussions between EESL CEO Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, Andhra Pradesh Tourism officials, and state government representatives.
