The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) has committed ₹1.05 crore towards the establishment of a new Sport Science Centre Hall in Koteshwar, Tehri, Uttarakhand. This financial support, formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with SEWA-THDC, a not-for-profit society sponsored by THDCIL, will fund the development of a 298 square meter facility dedicated to enhancing sports science and athlete performance.
The MoA was signed by Ms. Durre Shahwar, Additional General Manager (HR) of IREDA, and Shri Amardeep, General Manager (S&E) of THDCIL, in the presence of senior officials including Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD of IREDA, and Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance and Projects) of IREDA.
Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD of IREDA, emphasized the project's significance in creating a world-class High-Performance Academy for Kayaking and Canoeing. He noted that this investment aligns with IREDA’s commitment to improving athlete development and performance.
The initiative is part of IREDA’s CSR activities as outlined in Schedule VII of Section 135 of the Companies Act, which supports the advancement of sports at various levels, including rural and Olympic sports. This project underscores IREDA’s dedication to promoting health and excellence in sports through strategic investments in infrastructure.
