Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 11 National Highway projects worth Rs 6,350 crore in Jharkhand on July 3, 2025. The projects—nine in Ranchi and two in Garhwa—are set to significantly upgrade the state’s road infrastructure and boost regional connectivity.
In Ranchi, the Minister inaugurated the 4.18-km Ratu Road flyover, stretching from Raj Bhavan to OTC Ground, aimed at easing urban traffic congestion. Key projects also launched include:
Palma–Gumla four-lane highway (Rs 1,900 crore)
Barhi–Koderma four-lane road (Rs 825 crore)
Elevated corridor in Ranchi (Rs 560 crore)
Smaller regional upgrades in Godda (Rs 100 crore), Giridih (Rs 20 crore), and Barahat–Tulsipur (Rs 70 crore)
In Garhwa, Gadkari inaugurated a 23-km four-lane road from Shankha to Khajoori, built at a cost of Rs 1,130 crore. He also laid the foundation for a Rs 1,330 crore expansion of a 32-km stretch of NH-39, connecting the Chhattisgarh–Jharkhand border to Gumla, into a four-lane highway.
These projects are expected to reduce travel time, improve intra-state and inter-state connectivity, and act as catalysts for economic development and regional integration across Jharkhand.
