JSW Energy Powers Up: ₹14,000 Cr for Green Growth

JSW Energy plans to invest Rs 14,000 crore to scale up the renewable energy capacity of its recently acquired O2 Power platform to 4.7 GW by June 2027, according to senior company officials.

The acquisition of O2 Power’s 4,696 MW renewable portfolio from O2 Power Pooling was finalized at an enterprise value of Rs 12,468 crore through JSW Neo Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary. O2 Power currently has an installed capacity of 1.3 GW. Under the expansion plan, 2,259 MW is expected to be operational by June 2025, 1,463 MW is under construction, and 974 MW is in the development pipeline.

Joint Managing Director Sharad Mahendra affirmed the company’s commitment to growth through strategic capital expenditure. For FY26, JSW Energy aims to invest Rs 15,000–18,000 crore to complete ongoing projects and launch new ones. In comparison, Rs 8,000 crore was invested in FY25, reflecting project delays and a focus on inorganic growth.

JSW Energy is currently building 11.3 GW of generation capacity, including 9.7 GW of renewable projects and a 1.6 GW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Salboni, West Bengal.
