JSW Steel Greenlights ₹16,350 Crore Kadapa Project

JSW Steel is set to begin construction of the long-awaited JSW Rayalaseema Steel Plant at Sunnapurallapalli in Kadapa district within the next three weeks.

The integrated steel project is expected to mark a major economic development for the region, with the first phase involving an investment of ₹4,500 crore and generating around 1,000 employment opportunities. In the second phase, the company plans an additional investment of ₹11,850 crore, taking the project’s total production capacity to 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and increasing overall employment potential to nearly 2,500 jobs.

The project is being supported by dedicated infrastructure, including a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line, allocation of two tmc ft. of water from the Gandikota reservoir, a 12-km four-lane road and a dedicated 12-km railway connectivity link. Environmental clearances for the project have already been secured, and the land has been formally transferred to the company.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is expected to visit the project site during the commencement ceremony, which is being viewed as a significant step toward industrial development and employment generation in the Kadapa region.
