The Precision Partnership: IIT Dharwad & Aequs Launch R&D Hub

Aequs and Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad have established an advanced research and development ecosystem focused on materials science and manufacturing innovation at the IIT Dharwad campus.

The facility has been developed to strengthen industry–academia collaboration in precision manufacturing and support next-generation research in advanced engineering domains. It is equipped with capabilities for advanced material characterisation, failure analysis, manufacturing process simulation and process optimisation.

According to the partners, these capabilities will help researchers and industry experts gain deeper insights into material behaviour, structural integrity and failure mechanisms, leading to improved product reliability, reduced defects and enhanced manufacturing efficiency in high-precision industries. The initiative also forms the foundation for the upcoming “IIT Dharwad – Aequs Research and Development Centre,” which is expected to accelerate applied research and bridge the gap between laboratory innovation and industrial deployment.

In addition to research activities, the facility will conduct hands-on training programmes for engineers, researchers and students to build advanced technical expertise in material analysis across metals and non-metals. Aequs said it will continue supporting the centre through technical oversight, equipment monitoring and maintenance to ensure high scientific standards and operational excellence.
