Lifesaving at Speed: ePlane & Apollo to Deploy Flying Ambulances

In a major step toward airborne healthcare, IIT Madras-incubated The ePlane Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Apollo Hospitals. The partnership aims to bring eVTOL air ambulances and medical drones to patients across India, significantly cutting down transit times for critical emergencies.

Under the agreement, Apollo intends to integrate ePlane's flagship e200X aircraft into its emergency response unit—focusing on trauma, cardiac, and organ transport missions—while leveraging Amber Wings drones for sample and vaccine logistics. By pairing ePlane’s technological innovation with Apollo’s nationwide network, the collaboration bypasses heavy infrastructure costs and accelerates time-to-market.

Following the recent rollout of the full-scale e200X ground prototype, ePlane is actively building its flight-test prototype with an eye on full regulatory certification by early 2027.
