Lubrizol Corporation is set to make a significant mark in India with a planned investment of approximately ₹1,680 crores ($200 million) for a new manufacturing plant in Aurangabad. This ambitious project will cover 120 acres and is aimed at bolstering Lubrizol’s presence in the region's growing transportation and industrial fluid markets. The facility is slated to open in 2028, coinciding with Lubrizol’s 100th anniversary, and will become the company’s second-largest manufacturing site globally and the largest in India.
The new Aurangabad plant represents a major leap in Lubrizol's expansion strategy, enhancing its capacity in the additives sector and supporting its broader operations. Flavio Kliger, President of Lubrizol Additives, noted that this development will significantly increase the company’s local production capabilities and align with its global growth objectives.
This investment follows Lubrizol’s recent $150 million initiative to expand its CPVC resin production in Vilayat, Gujarat, and the establishment of a new grease lab in Navi Mumbai. Additionally, Lubrizol launched its first global capability center in Pune in 2023 to foster regional growth and closer customer collaboration.
Bhavana Bindra, Managing Director of Lubrizol (India, Middle East, and Africa), emphasized the company's commitment to a "local-for-local" strategy, underscoring the importance of India-based manufacturing, regional innovation, and investment in local talent. Nitin Mengi, Vice President of Lubrizol Additives (IMEA), highlighted the immense opportunities within India’s expanding markets and expressed enthusiasm for contributing to their future success.
