Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India (MHRIL) has outlined ambitious plans to construct three environmentally conscious greenfield resorts in Tamil Nadu, with a projected investment of Rs 800 crore over the next five to six years. This strategic investment aligns with the company's broader expansion initiative, aiming to enhance its room inventory from 5,000 to 10,000 by the year 2030.
In a move to double its presence in Tamil Nadu, MHRIL, already operating resorts in Ooty and Kodaikanal under the Club Mahindra brand, is set to establish these new projects in unexplored locations within the state. The development of these resorts is anticipated to generate employment opportunities for approximately 1,500 individuals.
With a strong commitment to sustainability, the new resorts in Tamil Nadu will be designed to be pioneers in achieving net-zero energy, water, and waste. This initiative underscores the company's dedication to environmental responsibility and contributes to its overarching goal of achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2040.
Notably, this venture marks the second-largest investment by MHRIL, following its Rs 1,000-crore commitment to Uttarakhand announced the previous year. Club Mahindra, with a vast network encompassing more than 125 resorts across India and internationally, boasts a substantial member base of 2.9 lakh. The company's strategic expansion and sustainability focus position it as a leader in the hospitality sector.
