Kolkata-based power equipment manufacturer Marsons has significantly expanded its annual transformer manufacturing capacity to 10,000 MVA, positioning itself among India’s leading transformer producers by installed capacity.
The capacity expansion is backed by a strong order pipeline and growing demand from utilities, industrial clients, and independent power producers (IPPs). Notable ongoing projects include a 160 MVA, 220 kV class transformer for Inox, and 50 MVA and 80 MVA, 132 kV class transformers for the West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company (WBSETCL).
Marsons has also diversified into inverter duty transformers (IDTs) and wind turbine generator (WTG) transformers, catering to clients such as MAHAGENCO, Inox Wind, and various IPPs through EPC contractors. In the medium power segment, 10 MVA units account for the highest execution volumes, with consistent supplies to state utilities in Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.
This scale-up is expected to boost both productivity and cost efficiency, reinforcing Marsons’ competitiveness in the growing power infrastructure sector.
