Maruti’s Mega Expansion: 500k More Cars for 2026

Maruti Suzuki India Limited plans to increase its annual production capacity by 500,000 vehicles in the next financial year to meet rising domestic demand and reduce a substantial order backlog.

The automaker currently has an installed capacity of 2.6 million units per annum across its manufacturing facilities in Haryana and Gujarat. With nearly 200,000 pending orders, the company is running its plants at full capacity, while dealer inventory levels have dropped to around 12 days—well below the typical 30-day stock level.

Maruti Suzuki reported a 20% rise in bookings last month and continues to calibrate production to minimise customer waiting periods. The company dispatched 161,000 vehicles during the month, marginally higher than the 160,791 units recorded in February 2025. Its parent, Suzuki Motor Corporation, expects to add 250,000 units of annual capacity through two new production lines in India.

The second production line at Kharkhoda in Haryana is scheduled to commence operations in the first quarter of the upcoming financial year, while the fourth line at Hansalpur in Gujarat is expected to become operational in the second quarter, further strengthening the company’s manufacturing footprint.
