The Central Government has approved a ₹1,359 crore project to upgrade the Nagaur–Bikaner section of National Highway-62 into a four-lane corridor in Rajasthan. The project will be implemented under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, aiming to strengthen road connectivity and accelerate economic development across western Rajasthan.
The approval comes as part of the state's ongoing infrastructure expansion efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Once completed, the upgraded highway is expected to improve travel efficiency between Nagaur and Bikaner, enhance road safety, and facilitate smoother movement of goods and passengers.
The project is also anticipated to attract investments, generate employment opportunities, and support the growth of industries and tourism in the region. Chief Minister Sharma stated that the approval reflects the commitment of the Centre and the state government to modern infrastructure development and will provide a significant boost to economic activities in Nagaur, Bikaner, and surrounding areas, contributing to the vision of a developed Rajasthan.
