Mega Textiles: UP's ₹10,000 Cr PM MITRA Hub

The Uttar Pradesh government is fast-tracking the development of the PM MITRA Park, a world-class integrated textile hub spanning 1,000 acres — with 730 acres in Lucknow and 270 acres in Hardoi — under the Centre’s PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) scheme.

Envisioned as a catalyst for transforming UP into a major textile manufacturing and export hub, the park is expected to attract investments exceeding ₹10,000 crore (USD 1.12 billion) and generate over one lakh direct and indirect jobs.

To facilitate implementation, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) — PM MITRA Park Uttar Pradesh — has been formed, with 51% equity held by the state government and 49% by the central government.

The Handloom and Textile Department has signed 95 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading domestic and international textile firms. Prominent industry players such as Aditya Birla Group, TT Group, Maral Overseas, and the Okhla Garment and Textile Cluster have expressed keen interest in setting up units. Proposed activities include spinning, weaving, garment manufacturing, technical textiles, and hygiene product manufacturing.

The project aligns with UP’s broader industrialisation strategy and is expected to significantly strengthen the textile value chain while supporting sustainable employment generation across the region.
