Milestone Alert: NTPC Hits 90 GW of Power Capacity

NTPC Limited has crossed 90 GW of installed power generation capacity, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to strengthen India’s energy security and accelerate the country’s clean energy transition.

The achievement follows the successful completion of trial operations of Unit 2, an 800 MW unit at Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL). The project comprises three units of 800 MW each.

With the commissioning of the new unit, the NTPC Limited Group has further expanded its overall power generation portfolio as part of its ongoing capacity expansion programme.

The company stated that the milestone reflects its continued commitment to supporting a sustainable and energy-secure future for India while steadily scaling up both conventional and clean energy assets.
