Mission Polavaram: Phase-1 Finish Line Set for March 2027

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed confidence that Phase-1 of the Polavaram Irrigation Project will be completed by March 2027, following an inspection of progress at the Polavaram site.

During a review meeting with senior officials and contractors, the Chief Minister confirmed that the earth-cum-rock fill (ECRF) dam under Phase-1 will be set at 119 tmc-ft, enabling gravitational flow of water to the intended regions. He also stressed that resettlement and rehabilitation of affected families must be completed by January 2027. The new diaphragm wall (D-wall), built at a cost of nearly Rs 1,000 crore, has achieved 81 per cent completion.

The Chief Minister stated that Phase-2 of the project will commence after the completion of Phase-1 and is scheduled to be completed by 30 June 2027. He also highlighted progress on connectivity works, noting that the twin tunnels are expected to be completed by June 2026.
