Manali Petrochemicals Limited (MPL) has secured Consent to Operate (CTO) from the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) for its expanded Propylene Glycol (PG) facility at Plant II in Manali, Chennai. The approval, valid until 31 March 2030, enables MPL to commence manufacturing operations as outlined in the consent.
With this expansion, MPL has increased its PG production capacity from 22,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) to 72,000 TPA—adding 50,000 TPA of additional capacity. This marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to boost domestic manufacturing under the Government of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Propylene Glycol is a vital input across multiple sectors, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food processing, and various industrial applications. By scaling up capacity, MPL aims to reduce India’s reliance on imports and better serve the growing domestic demand.
The upgraded facility incorporates advanced technologies and complies with environmental standards prescribed by the TNPCB. With regulatory clearance in place, MPL is set to begin commercial production at the expanded unit immediately.
