Mumbai's Bullet Train Hub: BKC Station Reaches 84% Excavation

The Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) station—the only underground station on the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor—has achieved 84% excavation progress, according to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

Key Project Details:

Excavation Depth: 32.5 meters (equivalent to a 10-storey building), Platform Depth: 26 meters underground, Design: Three levels – platform, concourse, and service floor, Platform Length: Six platforms, each approximately 415 meters long

Connectivity: Seamless integration with Mumbai Metro Line 2B and major road networks via two designated entry/exit points

Architectural Design: Inspired by the clouds and waves of the Arabian Sea

The station is designed with passenger convenience in mind, featuring spacious concourses, modern amenities, and natural lighting via skylights, offering a world-class travel experience.

While construction is progressing steadily, the Ministry of Railways has not yet announced a final completion or operational timeline for the overall corridor.
