Mumbai's Fast Track: Metro 3 Speeds Towards Completion.

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has marked a significant milestone with the arrival of a trial train at Cuffe Parade, the final station of Mumbai’s first underground metro, Metro Line 3 (Aqualine). This achievement brings the city closer to completing Phase-II, with full public operations expected by July 2025.

Currently, 12.69 km of the 33.5 km Aqualine is operational between Aarey JVLR and Bandra Kurla Complex since October 2024. Phase-II trials are progressing in two sections. The 9.77-km Phase 2A, from Dharavi to Acharya Atrey Chowk, has entered system trials, covering stations at Dharavi, Sitaladevi, Dadar, Siddhivinayak, Worli, and Acharya Atrey Chowk. Reports indicate this stretch could open by March 2025 following inspections and safety approvals.

Phase 2B, extending 10.99 km from Acharya Atrey Chowk to Cuffe Parade, is also advancing steadily. With track installation and the overhead catenary system completed, MMRC is now focused on final system fitments, architectural finishes, and road restoration to ensure full operational readiness.
