Mumbai's Fintech Crown: NPCI's Global HQ Lands in BKC

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has allocated a commercial plot in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) for its global headquarters, further strengthening Mumbai’s status as a global fintech and digital payments hub.

NPCI, which manages India’s retail payments and settlement systems, had sought the plot, and MMRDA approved the allotment during its 158th authority meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The possession letter for the amalgamated Plot C-44 & C-48 in BKC’s G-Block was officially handed over at Mumbai Tech Week (MTW) 2025 in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The 6,019.10 sq. mtr. commercial land is leased for 80 years.

Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Commissioner of MMRDA, emphasized BKC’s strategic significance, stating, “BKC has emerged as India’s leading financial district, attracting top institutions that drive economic growth. Allocating this commercial space to NPCI aligns with our vision of positioning Mumbai as a global fintech powerhouse while providing world-class infrastructure for pioneering organizations.”
