Collector Himanshu Shukla has announced that land acquisition is in progress for 11 major industrial projects in SPSR Nellore district. Of these, six companies have already initiated the acquisition process, while land identification is underway for the remaining five projects.
As part of the district’s planned development strategy, the administration is prioritising industrialisation of the western region to bring it on par with the eastern part. Discussions are currently being held with industrialists to establish units in the Atmakur, Udayagiri, Jaladanki, and Duttalur areas.
For the proposed BPCL oil refinery project, approximately 3,200 acres of the required 6,000 acres have been acquired, with efforts ongoing to secure the remaining land. Collector Shukla stated that, subject to progress as planned, the foundation stone for the BPCL project is expected to be laid in February 2027.
Meanwhile, land acquisition for the Indosol Solar project is also progressing. In addition, the State Cabinet has approved land allotment for the IFFCO Kisan Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and steps are being taken to transfer the Kovur Sugar Factory to APIIC to facilitate further industrial development in the district.
