The Bihar government has taken a major step toward modernising the state’s urban infrastructure by approving the development of satellite and greenfield townships across 11 key locations.
These new townships will be built on the outskirts of congested cities and will feature organised residential zones equipped with modern amenities such as wide roads, parks, hospitals, clean drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, markets, office spaces, and efficient transport systems. The initiative aims to ease population pressure on existing urban centres while creating improved living conditions and new employment opportunities. The townships will be developed in nine divisional headquarters, along with Sonpur and Sitamarhi.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary stated that the project will accelerate Bihar’s growth through modern technologies and forward-looking planning. He expressed confidence that the upcoming townships will enhance access to essential services and elevate the overall quality of life. If executed on schedule, the initiative could significantly transform Bihar’s urban landscape.
