NGEL & Assago: Harvesting Green Energy for Clean Urea

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Assago Industries on 2 February 2026 at NTPC Bhawan, New Delhi.

The MoU provides for the supply of green ammonia, carbon dioxide, renewable energy (RE) power, and other associated utilities to Assago for producing 1,000 tonnes per day (TPD) of green urea. The proposed green urea facility will be established at NGEL’s Green Hydrogen Hub in Pudimadaka, near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

This collaboration aims to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly urea production by leveraging green energy solutions.

Senior officials from NGEL, NTPC, and Assago attended the signing ceremony, underscoring the joint commitment to advancing green and renewable energy initiatives. The partnership represents a significant step toward supporting India’s clean energy transition and sustainable agricultural development.
