NTPC Limited and its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), have signed agreements worth ₹96,000 crore with the Chhattisgarh government to enhance the state’s energy infrastructure. The deals were finalized at the Chhattisgarh Energy Investors’ Summit-2025 in Raipur.
The largest investment—₹80,000 crore—will fund the development of a 4,200 MW nuclear power plant. Additionally, NTPC will partner with the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Ltd (CSPGCL) to establish a 1,200 MW pumped hydro storage project in Sikaser, Gariyaband district, at an estimated cost of ₹5,876 crore.
To further expand renewable energy capacity, NGEL and CSPGCL have formed a joint venture to develop up to 2 GW of renewable energy projects, requiring an investment of approximately ₹10,000 crore. These initiatives will help CSPGCL meet its Renewable Generation Obligation (RGO) and assist the state’s distribution company in fulfilling its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO).
The agreements were signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, and other senior state officials. NTPC was represented by key executives, including Regional Executive Director Pradipta Kumar Mishra and Executive Director (Nuclear) Prasenjit Pal.
