Shelf Drilling, a Dubai-based offshore drilling contractor, has been awarded a three-year contract by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for the deployment of its J.T. Angel jack-up rig in the Mumbai High, offshore India.
The contract carries an estimated added value of approximately USD 40 million. The rig is currently undergoing preparation, with operations scheduled to commence in October 2025.
In a separate development, the company has decided to dispose of the Trident XII rig, which recently completed its drilling assignment with ONGC and is currently stacked in India. The sale will be for non-drilling purposes, as part of Shelf Drilling’s ongoing fleet optimization strategy.
Shelf Drilling is a global leader in shallow water offshore drilling, with operations spanning the Middle East, Southeast Asia, India, West Africa, the Mediterranean, and the North Sea. The company is recognized for its fit-for-purpose approach and strong operational focus in key offshore markets.
