Patel Engineering has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Arunachal Pradesh government to restore and develop the 144 MW Gongri Hydropower Project.
Situated near Dirang on the Gongri River, the project had previously been terminated but is now being revived under the state’s new ‘Arunachal Pradesh Restoration of Terminated Large Hydropower Policy under Special Circumstances, 2025.’ Valued at ₹1,700 crore, the project is expected to be completed within four years. Patel Engineering will execute the project on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis for 40 years, covering all phases from detailed project report (DPR) preparation to dam construction, equipment installation, and grid connectivity. Once operational, the project will generate clean energy, improve local infrastructure, create employment opportunities, and promote sustainable development.
Kavita Shirvaikar, Managing Director of Patel Engineering, highlighted the company’s dedication to renewable energy and socio-economic progress through this collaboration.
