The Ministry of Rural Development has given the green light to a new set of infrastructure projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III (PMGSY-III). These projects will benefit the states of Manipur, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, with a focus on developing roads and long-span bridges (LSBs) to connect remote and underserved areas.
In Manipur, 41 new road projects covering 280.97 km have been approved, with a total investment of Rs 225.15 crore. This is in addition to the previous approval for 56 roads, spanning 502.24 km, which received Rs 404.72 crore under the same scheme. Mizoram will see the construction of seven LSBs, totaling 373.46 meters, with Rs 67.69 crore in funding. Previously, 17 roads covering 487.5 km were approved, with a cost of Rs 562.70 crore.
Himachal Pradesh has secured approval for 21 LSBs, with a total length of 970.77 meters, amounting to Rs 140.90 crore. This adds to the earlier allocation of 299 roads (3,123.12 km) and 43 LSBs, totaling Rs 3,345.82 crore in previous phases of PMGSY-III.
In Uttarakhand, 9 LSBs with a combined length of 246 meters have been approved, with an investment of Rs 40.77 crore. This follows prior approvals for 212 roads (2,287.95 km) and 9 LSBs, at a total cost of Rs 1,865.34 crore.
