Powering India’s Grid: TARIL Bets Big with ₹1,250 Crore Expansion

In a major step toward supply chain localization, Transformers and Rectifiers (India) (TARIL) is investing ₹1,250 crore in three greenfield manufacturing units at its Chiyada, Gujarat hub. Operated via a wholly-owned subsidiary, the plants will produce key transformer inputs, including bushings, insulation materials, and continuously transposed conductors.

Groundwork began in December 2025, aiming for commercial operations by Q1 FY2027–28. Once operational, the facilities are slated to generate around ₹2,000 crore annually and provide over 1,000 direct jobs. MD & CEO Satyen Mamtora emphasized that backward integration will streamline lead times and quality while catering to the surge in power transmission and renewable energy development.
