Premier Energies has secured a ₹215 crore contract from the Uttar Pradesh Department of Agriculture for the supply, installation, and commissioning of 8,085 solar water pumping systems across various districts in the state. The project is set for completion by March 2025 and includes a comprehensive five-year warranty.
This contract is part of Component-B of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) Scheme, a government initiative aimed at increasing the use of renewable energy in agriculture. The scheme aligns with India’s commitment to achieve 40% of its installed power capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030, as part of its Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs).
The solar water pumping systems will provide reliable and sustainable energy solutions for irrigation, reducing farmers' dependence on traditional energy sources and contributing to the overall energy security in the region. The project also aims to enhance agricultural productivity by providing uninterrupted water supply to farmers.
Premier Energies' successful bid for this project underscores its expertise in renewable energy solutions and its commitment to supporting India’s green energy goals. The company has been at the forefront of implementing solar energy projects across the country, and this order further solidifies its position in the industry.
This initiative is expected to make a significant impact on the livelihoods of farmers in Uttar Pradesh, ensuring a steady supply of water for irrigation while promoting the use of clean energy in agriculture.
