Priest's Passion: Jagannatham, Puri's New Spiritual Resort

Sevayat Daitapati Bhabani Das, a priest of the Jagannath Temple in Puri, is set to establish Jagannatham, a 300-room luxury resort designed to offer a "satvik" experience—blending spirituality with modern comforts for pilgrims and travelers.

Located on a seven-acre beachfront property along the Puri-Konark marine drive, the resort is scheduled to open before the Rath Yatra of 2026. Developed under Meridian Mist Hotel & Resort, the project has a construction cost of ₹110 crore (excluding land), with an overall valuation of ₹200 crore, according to an official from Das’ team.

Jagannatham will feature studio and deluxe cottages, a spa, an amphitheater, a jogging track, a tennis court, and dedicated wellness spaces, catering to both high-end travelers and spiritual seekers. While Das and his family fully own the project, they may consider equity dilution based on the response to the resort's membership program.

Membership plans, priced at ₹3.5 lakh, ₹5 lakh, and ₹7 lakh, offer a three-night stay per month for five years, with an initial target of 5,000 members.
