Progress Check: The 850 MW Ratle Hydroelectric Project

NHPC Director (Projects) Sanjay Kumar Singh visited the Ratle Hydroelectric Project on May 24, 2026, to review the progress of ongoing construction activities at the project site.

The 850 MW hydropower project is being developed by Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited, a joint venture between NHPC and the Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation.

During the visit, RHPCL Chief Executive Officer M K Kashyap briefed the NHPC Director on the overall execution status of the project, including developments related to dam construction, powerhouse works and associated infrastructure facilities.

The review focused on evaluating construction progress across key project components and monitoring execution activities at multiple work fronts.

Once commissioned, the Ratle Hydroelectric Project is expected to substantially enhance regional power generation capacity and contribute to India’s renewable energy objectives. The project is regarded as one of the major upcoming hydropower developments in the Union Territory and is expected to support long-term energy security and infrastructure growth in the region.
