PSP Projects, as the lowest bidder (L1 bidder), has secured a significant development project in the Dharoi Dam region of Dharoi, Gujarat, with a substantial investment of Rs 357.08 crore. This development project is expected to have a transformative impact on the area and is indicative of a growing focus on infrastructure and energy projects in the region.
In parallel, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has outlined an ambitious plan to establish pumped hydro storage units in various states across India, with a combined installed capacity of 14,000 MW (14 GW). These pumped hydro storage units play a crucial role in India's power infrastructure, as they allow for the efficient storage and utilization of energy, particularly for grid balancing and managing renewable energy sources.
Of the total 14,000 MW capacity, approximately 5,500 MW projects have been proposed by the Central government, emphasizing the national commitment to enhancing energy infrastructure. Additionally, the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU), NTPC, has identified the remaining 8,500 MW of pumped hydro storage capacity, strategically distributed across several states, including Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh.
Furthermore, state governments have been actively working to harness the immense hydroelectric potential in India. The country has an estimated capacity of 103 GW for pumped storage projects, reflecting its vast potential for clean and sustainable energy generation. In this pursuit, state governments are actively engaged in attracting developers and generation companies to invest in and establish these hydroelectric projects, thereby contributing to India's energy security and sustainability goals.
The overall development signals a significant commitment to infrastructure and energy projects in India, with a particular focus on pumped hydro storage, which plays a vital role in managing and storing energy to meet the country's growing power demands and ensure a sustainable energy future.
