Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is set to fortify the power transmission network in Bathinda with a pivotal project targeting the Maluka-Kalyan, Sukha villages. This initiative aims to establish a robust 400 kV double circuit transmission line spanning 13.5 kilometers, catering to escalating power demands in the region, signaling reliability and quality upgrades.
With an estimated investment of 120 Crores, the project anticipates transformative benefits. It pledges a more stable electricity flow, curbing outages and voltage fluctuations, thus bolstering Bathinda's power infrastructure. This leap in transmission capacity aligns with the burgeoning needs of the area's growing populace and industries, poised to fuel regional development.
In its initial development stages, the project faces anticipated hurdles. The acquisition of land for the transmission line route requires delicate negotiations and collaboration with landowners. Additionally, mitigating the environmental impact stemming from construction activities, alongside addressing community concerns regarding social and livelihood impacts, is pivotal for project success.
Currently securing clearances and finalizing land acquisitions, PSPCL anticipates commencing construction imminently, targeting an 18-month completion timeframe. PSPCL's Transmission Line Project epitomizes a critical stride towards fortifying Bathinda's power infrastructure, albeit with the essential need for adeptly navigating challenges and prioritizing community and environmental welfare throughout its implementation.
As on December, 2023. The project has begun the stage of receiving approvals. Clearances were obtained for the project. Work on the project is scheduled to begin in January of 2024.
