The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has officially extended the deadline for completing the Pune Metro Line 3 project, now targeting March 2026 for full completion. This crucial metro corridor connects Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar and is designed to alleviate traffic congestion and shorten commute times across the city.
The extension was approved by the executive committee under the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance). PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase confirmed, “The executive committee has cleared the proposal. The new outer limit for the Metro line’s completion is March 2026.”
In addition, the integrated double-deck flyover between University Chowk and the E-Square junction has also received a revised deadline, now scheduled for completion by October.
Despite 85% of the construction being completed, the project has faced setbacks due to delays in obtaining approvals from various authorities. PMRDA emphasized that, once completed, the Metro Line 3 will serve several major areas in Pune, helping reduce congestion and delivering long-term economic and transportation benefits to the region.
