The Water Resources Department (WRD) of Rajasthan is initiating a significant endeavor by soliciting proposals for the construction of the Pipalkhunt High-Level Canal (PHLC) from Mahi to Jakham dam. This project, with an estimated budget of 1,400 Crores, holds the promise of transforming irrigation infrastructure and water management in the region.
At its core, the project aims to design and construct PHLC, facilitating the efficient transfer of water resources from Mahi to Jakhram dam. This strategic canal system is poised to bolster agricultural productivity and address water scarcity challenges, thus fostering socio-economic development in the area.
In addition to canal construction, the project encompasses the establishment of a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at Harmara ki Rel village, under the purview of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). This component underscores the project's holistic approach towards ensuring access to clean and potable water for local communities.
Moreover, the initiative extends its reach to the enhancement of irrigation facilities in the Pipalkhunt tehsil of Pratapgarh. Over 5000 hectares of Command Area (CCA) are slated for development, leveraging a combination of piped carriers and a micro-irrigation system (MIS). This comprehensive approach seeks to optimize water usage and maximize agricultural yield, thus uplifting rural livelihoods.
With a budgeted cost of 1,400.3 crore and a stipulated completion timeline of 36 months, the project demonstrates a commitment to timely execution and delivery. Furthermore, the inclusion of a 10-year commitment to operation and maintenance (O&M) post-construction underscores the government's dedication to ensuring the project's long-term sustainability and efficacy.
