Ramnagar & Sujabad Get ₹313 Crore Infrastructure Boost

Sewage and water supply infrastructure will soon be developed in Ramnagar and Sujabad, recently incorporated into the Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits. The Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (UPJN) has secured approval for detailed project reports (DPRs) worth ₹277 crore for Ramnagar and ₹36.45 crore for Sujabad, with funds already allocated.

Following the 2022–23 merger of Ramnagar Palika Parishad and Sujabad Nagar Panchayat, along with the inclusion of Rohania, VMC’s ward count increased from 90 to 100.

During a review meeting, Mayor Ashok Tiwari underscored the importance of ensuring access to clean drinking water and proper sewage systems. According to UPJN engineers, Ramnagar will receive 93 km of water lines at a cost of ₹94.44 crore and 80 km of sewer lines at ₹182 crore. In Sujabad Domari, 63 km of water lines will be laid at a cost of ₹36.45 lakh.

The Mayor also instructed the Jal Nigam to complete DPRs for Rohania wards by September 15 and to ensure full operational capacity of pumping stations at Manikarnika and Namo Ghats.
