Reliance Power Supercharges Solar with ₹10,000 Crore Bet

Reliance NU Suntech, a subsidiary of Anil Ambani’s Reliance Power, has announced a ₹10,000 crore investment to develop Asia’s largest integrated solar power and battery energy storage system (BESS). The company has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the supply of 930 MW of solar power, supported by a 465 MW/1,860 MWh BESS facility.

To fulfill the contract, Reliance NU Suntech will install over 1,700 MWp of solar generation capacity with advanced storage systems to ensure consistent energy supply. The electricity will be delivered at a fixed tariff of ₹3.53/kWh.

This project follows Reliance NU Suntech’s success in SECI’s Tranche XVII auction in December 2024, where it emerged as the largest winner, securing the full 930 MW of solar and 465 MW/1,860 MWh of storage—outperforming four other contenders competing for 2,000 MW of solar and 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh of storage. A Performance Bank Guarantee of ₹378 crore has already been submitted, finalizing the contracting process within five months.

Slated for completion in 24 months, this project marks a significant milestone in India's renewable energy roadmap, reinforcing Reliance Power’s leadership in clean energy and strengthening the nation’s energy storage infrastructure.
