₹126 Crore Land Deal Fuels Titagarh's Metro & Vande Bharat Ambitions

Titagarh Rail Systems has acquired a 99-year lease on 40 acres of land from the West Bengal government for ₹126.63 crore, aiming to significantly scale up production at its Uttarpara facility in Hooghly district.

The newly leased land, spread across the mouzas of Kotrung and Bhadrakali, is adjacent to the company’s existing 34-acre plant—making it a strategic addition to its expansion roadmap. In a regulatory filing, the company stated, “The additional land will facilitate the creation of new production infrastructure, along with dedicated zones for forming, testing, and commissioning of metro coaches and Vande Bharat trains.” A dedicated test track will also be built to ensure thorough performance and safety checks before delivery.

As part of its growth plan, Titagarh aims to increase its annual rail car production capacity from 300 to approximately 850 units by FY 2027–28. To support this expansion, the company will raise ₹200 crore through a preferential issue of warrants to members of the Promoter group.
