₹6,925 Crore Boost: Centre Fast-Tracks Ambikapur Railway Network

The Government of India has accelerated several railway projects in Chhattisgarh to strengthen connectivity in the Ambikapur region, Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha.

The Minister outlined survey progress by the South East Central Railway’s Bilaspur Division and detailed plans for new railway lines through Ambikapur. Key ongoing projects include the 80-km Boridand-Ambikapur doubling project, the 262-km Ambikapur-Ramanujganj-Barwadih new line, and the 218-km Sardega-Pathalgaon-Ambikapur new line.

Minister Vaishnaw highlighted a significant increase in budget allocations for the state’s railway infrastructure, rising from ₹311 crore annually during 2009–2014 to ₹6,925 crore in 2025–26. He also noted that track commissioning has accelerated, with 1,189 km of new track completed between 2014 and 2025, stating, “The pace of commissioning new track in the State has increased significantly.”
