The Andhra Pradesh government has approved ₹904 crore for development works in villages within the Capital Region, marking a significant push to improve civic infrastructure.
The decision follows Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s assurance to farmers that concerns over delays by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on promised infrastructure projects would be addressed. The government has finalised plans to upgrade roads, drainage systems, drinking water pipelines, and village connectivity across 29 villages in Thullur, Mangalagiri, and Tadepalli mandals. The works will include restoring damaged roads, enhancing sanitation networks, and installing new underground drainage systems.
Key allocations include ₹64.4 crore for drinking water schemes, ₹110.6 crore for sewage treatment plants (STPs), ₹339 crore for road improvements, and ₹12.3 crore for street lighting. Villages such as Inavolu, Mandadam, and Sakhamuru, which face acute water shortages, will particularly benefit from new drinking water projects. As work resumes after years of delays, residents are optimistic about improved amenities and infrastructure.
