RVUNL & SCCL: A Mega Power Partnership Ignites Telangana

Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUNL) and Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop thermal power projects with a total capacity of 1,600 MW in Telangana. Under this agreement, Rajasthan and Telangana will each receive 800 MW.

Additionally, RVUNL plans to establish a 1,500-MW solar park in Rajasthan, with land already identified. The solar project is expected to require an investment of Rs 6,000 crore, while the total investment for both projects is estimated at Rs 22,000 crore.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma emphasized Rajasthan’s goal of generating 125 GW of solar energy by 2030. The state has secured investment commitments exceeding Rs 28 lakh crore through collaborations with central undertakings, including the Rising Rajasthan investment summit in March 2024. Moreover, an MoU worth Rs 10,000 crore between Power Grid Corporation and RVUNL further reinforces Rajasthan’s commitment to strengthening its energy infrastructure.
