SCM Garments Lands $50 Cr. Unit in Mannargudi.

SCM Garments, a subsidiary of The Chennai Silks Group, is set to establish a ₹50 crore production unit in Mannargudi, Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu.

An MoU for the project was signed in Chennai in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa. The facility, to be developed on five acres allotted by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu, is expected to be completed next year. It will create 2,500 jobs—2,200 direct and 300 indirect—primarily benefiting rural women in the district.

The project aligns with Tamil Nadu’s broader goals of boosting employment, attracting investment, and advancing toward its target of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030. Senior officials from the state government and SCM Garments were also present at the signing ceremony.
